I'm a 20th Century Industrial man
I keep running faster and grab all that I can

I'm born with a number then I'm sent to school
I learn to stay in line and mind the teacher's rule
Memorize the facts according to the text
Pledge allegiance to the flag we all know what comes next
History science grammar & math
I've gotta make the grade stay on the beaten path
Study my homework pass the big test
Hope I don't fail so much to digest
Biggest best farthest pushing to the top
Got to grab for more my hunger just won't stop!

I graduate from school then I find a job
then it's hurry up an wait in the 9 to 5 mob
go to work come home watch that TV screen
go to sleep wake up drink a cup of caffeine
back to work for the boss who profits from my loss
all my rights have been sold I must do as I am told
I've gotta pay the bills don't it give you the chills?
I'm not a human being I'm a business machine!

I'm a 20th Century Industrial Man
I keep running faster and grab all that I can

Radio TV papers magazines
keep pooping out the scoop the news behind the scenes
war in Afghanistan Cheney makes a steal
oil in Columbia greed they can't conceal
statue of Liberty nuclear bombs
baseball football Falwell reading Psalms
anglos selling bullets banks & barbed wire
the weather's turning funky forests on fire
Waldheim for Austria Bush for USA
Interpol in Paris SS to CIA
it's too much to know it just can't be real
I think I'll turn the channel & watch "Let's Make a Deal"!

Masters of the Universe robots in the sky
GI Joe Rambo you know they never die
little kids keep playing those video games
shooting rockets and lasers turning planets to flames
when they get older their hearts a little colder
the Air Force is waiting for them to sign their names
please won't someone break this ugly spell?
they burn our Mother Earth with the fires of hell!

I'm a 20th Century Industrial Man
I keep running faster and grab all that I can

Mothers sisters grandmas and aunts
goddess power rising behold the spiral dance
women in circles sisters holding hands
for the children's future they take their final stands
singing in the moonlight welcoming the sun
protecting Mother Earth & healing everyone
so 20th century industrial man
with your greed money profit security plan
come out of your cities stop your machines
get down upon the Earth plant a few beans
look up at the sky watch a bird fly
don't ask why just open up your eye
the planet is alive beauty gets you high
hold a baby in your arms you might even cry
when your body fails it's time for you to die
Mother Earth will open her womb for you to lie
and sleep that long sleep dream that long dream
rowing your boat gently down the stream

September 11, 2002

We are the sleeping giant
of all there is to know

The acts of terror are our own dreams
--submerged parts of ourselves
sending us murderous messages:
They say, we are ignoring cries
that rise from our own blood

We are in a waking state now and we scream
as we emerge from our nightmare

But we cannot interpret the origin of our pain:

Our smoking materiality
stands in the way of the light
that has flown through us
as fire

I Do Not Want You, Petroleum
I don't want you, petroleum!
For a long time,
I thought that you burnt for me.
Now I see that I am burning for you.

I'm not saying that it's not pleasant
Sitting near a kerosine heater
And enjoying the falling snow.
Or the working water pumps
In the empty plain.
And yet, I can not believe you,
Seven-headed dragon!
Fire still spews forth from your mouth
To the soul of my homeland.

In your school I learned servitude,
So that the Khan of the tribe
Could send his son to London,
The Imperial Army in Mohammara
Forced me to abandon
The dream of a "House of Justice."
On the street my blood was shed,
It turned into ink
For the pens which wrote
The new contracts of slavery.
The grand gates of falsehood
Opened with your keys.
Today the promised Messiah rides
On you, donkey of the Antichrist.

You raised this state to the heavenly throne
And polished its boots to a sheen.
You raised its seven-headed club
And whenever I tried to pull it down
You reinforced its shaky body
With your sturdy beams.
No! I don't want!
I don't want you, petroleum!
Oh, bloody stream!
For a long time,
I thought you gave me blood.
Now I see, you made me bleed.

Gather the Women Outreach Request

Our goal is to involve ONE BILLION women in some
way during the week of March 3-9 to harness the feminine energy on the
planet. We currently have nearly 2900 women registered with over 278 events
posted in 17 countries (and 35 US states).

Many have written to ask how you can help. With only six days remaining
the most important way you can help is to continue to spread the word. You
can do this in several meaningful ways:

1. Encourage your family, friends, coworkers and associates to visit
www.gatherthewomen.org, to sign up as a participant and if possible to host
an event in their home (it's not too late to invite a few friends over for
an hour or two). A sample email can be found in our new menu item "Tools for
Planning Local Events".

2. Write a letter to the editor or send one of our press releases to your
local newspaper. Sample press releases are also available on our website
under Tools for Planning Local Events

3. Use the Media List that we've provided on our website to send a letter
to the editor, a press release or an article (samples are provided on our
website or write your own).

4. Download our new Gather the Women Theme Song (available under the
Downloads link in Tools for Planning Local Events) and share it with others
and use it at your event, if you are planning one. (You can also order the
Commemorative CD directly from www.electricangel.com for only $6 and sheet
music for only $2.50. A percentage of the profits from the sale of these
products will go to support the Gather the Women Initiative).

5. Support us with your dollars through our POWER OF ONE grassroots
campaign. Send one dollar along with a self-addressed stamped envelope and
receive a free Gather the Women Bumper Sticker (additional stickers are
available for $2 each). We also welcome donations of any amount!
Thank you for helping to create this dynamic grassroots movement
that will mark the beginning of a global shift to bring balance, harmony and
peace to our planet.
